  • Antequera

    Antequera

Antequera, with its ancient dolmens and charming old town, sits right in the heart of Andalucía, strategically placed on Spain’s high-speed rail network, which makes it an excellent day trip from Málaga, Córdoba, Granada or Seville.

  • Baeza

    Baeza

Together with neighbouring Úbeda, Baeza is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, thanks to its wonderfully preserved Renaissance and medieval architecture. Baeza can be visited as a day trip from Granada or Córdoba, although if you’re coming from Córdoba it’s much easier if you have a car.

  • Carmona

    Carmona

Occupying a privileged position on an escarpment overlooking the lower Guadalquivir valley, Carmona has been inhabited for 5,000 years. The historic town centre echoes the Iberian, Carthaginian, Roman, Muslim, Jewish and Christian cultures that helped to shape it.

  • City and Mountains: Granada and Alpujarra

City and Mountains: Granada and Alpujarra

Get a flavour of the city of Granada and the mountain villages of the Alpujarra, both redolent of their Muslim past. Finish your itinerary with a day – or more – of hiking through the rugged mountain scenery in the Sierra Nevada National Park.

    4-5 Nights

  • Córdoba

    Córdoba

Capital of both the Roman province of Baetica and Al-Andalus, Córdoba’s rich cultural heritage is preserved in its architecture, customs and cuisine. It’s worth lingering for a few nights to do the city justice and to experience its more tranquil side once the day-trippers have left.

    2-3 Nights

  • Córdoba Day Trip

    Córdoba Day Trip

Córdoba is very easily reached on the AVE high-speed train from Seville, Málaga or Antequera, so it makes a great day trip. You’ll have time to explore the beautiful UNESCO-listed Mosque-Cathedral and Jewish quarter. You might even be able to squeeze in the Alcázar or a couple of Córdoba’s famous flower-filled patios.

  • Driving route: Córdoba to Granada

    Driving route: Córdoba to Granada

This driving route takes you through former frontier country – between the Christian Kingdom of Castile and the Muslim Kingdom of Granada. This mountainous area was contested for hundreds of years, which explains why there are so many castles along the route.

  • Granada

    Granada

Many people only come to Granada to visit the Alhambra, but there’s so much more to see and do in the city. It’s a great city for a short break, and this itinerary gives you some ideas for a three-night stay.

    2-3 Nights

  • Granada Day Trip

    Granada Day Trip

This day trip is designed for people who’ve already visited the Alhambra and want to see more of the rest of Granada. It takes in the key sights in the historical centre and Lower Albaicín.

    Day Trip

  • Granada with Alhambra

    Granada with Alhambra

Your main focus has to be the Alhambra and Generalife, which can easily take 3 hours or more to explore. After that, you should have time to see a bit of Granada itself. We recommend you choose either the Renaissance district around the cathedral or the lower Albaicín.

Questions and answers

What’s the idea behind the trip itineraries?

We have tried to suggest a range of itineraries of different lengths, so there’s something for everyone. There are itineraries that focus on the best-known sights, and others that take you more off the beaten track. Some itineraries put most emphasis on cultural heritage and history, while in others the local gastronomy or dramatic scenery are equally important.

How do you make sure the trip itineraries are practical?

We’ve actually been to all of the destinations, and we’re realistic about travel times between locations and the length of time you need for each activity. We take into account opening hours and the best time of day to do each thing.

How do you decide what activities to include on each day of an itinerary?

We group activities that are close together, to reduce unnecessary travel between them, but we also try to strike a balance between different types of experience, so that you will have an enjoyable day.

I’m most interested in bits from three different itineraries – what should I do?

The itineraries are just a guide – you can adapt them however you want, including mixing and matching bits from different itineraries, but remember to take into account how you’ll get from one destination to another and how long it will take.

How are your itineraries different from ones I can find elsewhere?

Our itineraries are rooted in our experience of living in and travelling around Andalucía for 20 years. We’ve thought carefully about how to combine sights and destinations, taking into account practical considerations and what will make an enjoyable trip.

Why don’t your itineraries include all the places I want to visit?

We put a lot of thought and research into producing each itinerary, so we haven’t covered the whole of Andalucía yet. The good news is that we’re adding new itineraries all the time, so it’s worth checking back regularly. If you want to ask us about specific destinations or sights, feel free to get in touch using the contact form.

Do you provide guided tours of Andalucía?

We don’t provide in-person guided tours, but we do have self-guided audio tours for many destinations in Andalucía, created using the VoiceMap app. They are a very flexible, as you can go at your own pace and stop whenever you want – to take photos, for a drink or for lunch. As you’re not part of a big group, you also get a more peaceful and intimate experience of what you’re seeing.

Do you offer a trip-planning service?

We don’t currently offer a trip-planning service, but the detailed itineraries on the website should help you to design your perfect trip. If you have any specific questions, feel free to contact us – we’ll do our best to respond if we can.
